Thank you for taking the time to look at my work. I know this page is supposed to be a very professional synopsis about who I am, my career, accolades, etc and written in the third person. I am doing something different  and writing from the heart because I want to connect with you. I think it is the best way to tell you why I am an artist, and what inspires me to create.
I am an artist because it is the only way I can process the world around me. I believe making art is the action of tapping into the purest form of humanity, and that is creativity. There is a magical place where creativity comes from ( I hope this doesn’t sound cliche, but art truly is magic ). I do not know where that is, but what I know instinctively is that creativity is a sacred part of our universe, and we can tap into it and use it to manipulate the world around us. I tap into my creativity to translate my thoughts and have a physical representation of my perspective on life, love, society, earth and all the confusing aspects of being a human. That’s why I am an artist, because, without art, I will not be able to communicate, I would not be able to see truly, and I would not be able to live ( I know that sounds intense). I believe art is a visual language and the purest form of communication. It can break many barriers, such as class, race, ethnicity, religion, political views, e.t.c,  and bring us together.
My art reflects a lot of social justice issues because they are important to me. I live in a world where my skin is a target, and my gender can be used against me. People who look like me tend to be constantly marginalized, and our voices go unheard. So art is how I make sure my voice is loud and clear. The other side of my work is about escapism, creating work that takes your imagination far away. I try not to limit myself to one subject matter or style. I like to live some space for exploration and seeing where my creativity can take me. This website/portfolio is a work in progress and a documentation of my journey as an artist. I hope you like it, but if you don’t, I hope you at least learned something. Thank you for reading this to the end and allowing me to speak from the heart.
